Trash Lamb Gallery:
Celebrating the underdog, the misunderstood, the awkward, and the absurd since October 2020
Melody Jean Moulton (b.1980) is a self-taught artist from California. While born and raised in Humboldt County, she has called Southern California home since 2002. All of her analog paper collage artwork is cut by hand and largely intuition based. Letting go of expectations and going with her gut has proven to be her most potent path of creating. Driven by the freedom from preconceived notions and surrendering to her instincts, Moulton's creative process unfolds organically, guided by an innate sense of exploration and supreme attention to detail.
In July of 2020, amidst the height of the global pandemic, Moulton took a big risk and left her part-time bartending gig to open Trash Lamb Gallery, an unconventionally-curated art gallery and gift shop located in the historic South Park neighborhood of San Diego. After four magical but very difficult years of keeping a brick and mortar afloat, Moulton chose to shutter her permanent gallery space in January 2025 after the property sold and the gallery faced a crippling rent increase. Trash Lamb continues on via this website and as a pop-up gallery in collaboration with other creative, physical spaces. Moulton is currently residing in Joshua Tree, California.
In addition to Trash Lamb Gallery, Moulton’s collage artwork has been on view in other esteemed venues such as La Luz de Jesus Gallery in Los Angeles, La Matadora Gallery in Joshua Tree, Baton Rouge Gallery in Louisiana, and Brassworks Gallery in Portland, Oregon.

What’s up with the name Trash Lamb?
I was visiting a friend in New York in April of 2018 and found a museum in Brooklyn with a very disturbing collection of taxidermied animals.
I took these photographs in one of the rooms while I was there and the phrase “Trash Lamb” popped into my head.
I really liked the sound of “Trash Lamb” and at the time I thought maybe I’d use the name for an art piece someday.
Fast forward to when I had the unexpected opportunity to open an art gallery in the Summer of 2020 and had to come up with a name for it quick.
“Trash Lamb” popped back up in my head and the rest is history.
