Wendy Lee Gadzuk

Wendy Lee Gadzuk is a visual artist, writer, musician and diviner living and working in the Mojave Desert of California, as well as co-curator of La Matadora Gallery in Joshua Tree. Inspired by our universal connection to the divine, she works in various mediums, resulting in 2 different bodies of visual art - finely detailed visionary work on paper incorporating traditional Byzantine iconography techniques, and altar-like 3-dimensional mixed media assemblage pieces. Over the past couple of years, her experience as a caregiver to her partner has influenced her work in a noticeable way, resulting in a series of large-scale assemblages using medical waste. The work all holds a similar thread, connecting in its own way to the collective unconscious.

Wendy recently created an oracle deck called Deconstructed Divination and released a limited edition book called 'The Magic of 8' to accompany it. She exhibits regularly in the Los Angeles area and beyond.

Sarah Jane (Heavydreamr)

Sarah Jane aka Heavydreamr was born and raised in Vermont. Although it seems like a woodland fairytale dream, it felt too small for her so she moved to NYC at 21 with $200 in her pocket, a suitcase and lots of dreams. She was professionally trained as an artist from the age of five, minored in Fine Art at the University of Vermont, and fully fell in love with illustrating the female form in sketch classes while attending Fashion Design school in NYC. Her work has been heavily influenced by her devotion to music as well as the connection of the human body to nature. There is a gentle mix of 60s psychedelia, surrealism, elemental symbolism and classic anatomy study in her paintings, which mainly consist of watercolor, acrylic and gold leaf. She has also been known to create fiber sculptures based on similar subject matter using her knowledge of construction from fashion design school.

Sarah Jane is currently illustrating her first full tarot deck (scheduled to be released in early 2023) and was recently accepted into the International Artists and Writers Residency at Chateau Orquevaux in Orquevaux, France (set to attend December 2022). In her free time, SJ is studying to become an Art Therapy Practitioner, where she hopes to marry her love and devotion to art with healthy coping mechanisms for survivors of trauma.

The artist currently resides by the beach in San Diego with her partner Justin, one dog and two cats, while she dreams of the day they can all escape back into woods.

About the Beneditos (Cabin Blessings):

“After a Near Death Experience at age 2 (in which I received the Last Rites but lost my hearing), I now live on Bonus Time. As a Lip-Reader during this Age of Masques, I compensated by becoming a better Mind-Reader. One thing I intuited during the Pandemic was a need for Beneditos, or Cabin Blessings. Each trivet is adorned with horseshoes, good-luck charms & protective amulets, then cured with earthquake-proof art resin. Within each benedito is a novena, or poem-prayer or incantation, that I wrote & culled from my diaries. May each Benedito bless your home sweet home with good luck, protection, and love.”
